The Temelín nuclear power plant in the České Budějovice region has successfully modernized the first of eight diesel generators. It wants to modernize all of them by 2030, investing hundreds of millions of crowns in the project. The modernization is being carried out by Škoda Jaderné Strojírenství in cooperation with PTSW, which is supplying a new control system. “The new control system will enable online monitoring of parameters directly from the remote workplace of the operating personnel. Until now, our technicians had to check parameters such as temperatures, pressures or levels of operating fluids only on the given equipment,” said Jan Kruml, director of the Temelín nuclear power plant.

The Temelín power plant, which is one of two nuclear sources in the Czech Republic, will cover about a fifth of domestic electricity consumption. Since the beginning of the year, it has produced 16.3 terawatt hours of electricity.
